A striking lumbar pillow cover handmade by Zapotec artisans in the community of Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico. Woven on a traditional waist loom, this cover features an iconic geometric arrows design that pairs beautifully with southwestern, bohemian, and contemporary interiors. Each piece takes up to two days to complete by hand.

The front is 100% heavy-weight wool; the back is Mexican cotton with a zipper closure. Four decorative pompoms at each corner. Use a 12×18" insert for a looser pillow or a 12×20" insert for a fuller look.

About the Waist Loom Tradition

The waist loom is one of the oldest weaving techniques used by Mesoamerican cultures, still practiced today in communities across Oaxaca and Chiapas. The loom is anchored to a pole or tree on one side and secured to the weaver’s waist on the other, allowing the artisan to control tension by body movement. Threads are interlaced perpendicularly to create the finished textile — a process that cannot be rushed. Every piece is a direct product of human skill, time, and tradition.
